Uptown Station is a complete repositiong of historic department store that suffered severe damage and an indelicate retrofit following the Loma Prieda earthquake in 1989. The original building was built in the 1920s as the flagship department store for H.C. Capwells, which later became Sears in the 1980s. My role was to translate the original drawings from the 20s and 80s into a working asbuilt model and design model. Great care had to be taken to capture the existing structure and proposed renovation to satisfy the Landmarks Committe for the CIty of Oakland and provide highly detailed renderings and simulations for propsective tenants.
